Education-based strengthening of the European universities, companies and labour force in the global IoT market
The project responds to the HE priority ‘Stimulating innovative learning and teaching practices’. The following priorities of the HE sector are indicated: ‘Promoting interconnected higher education systems’ and ‘Building inclusive higher education systems’. The project contributes to developing a modern and updated course on the Internet of Things (IoT). It addresses the expectations of the students to use the most up-to-date, primarily European, hardware and software solutions remotely.New and updated content focuses to:
- Advanced IoT Systems Curriculum for blended learning model,
- study materials for self-study, including new IOT Books,
- teaching materials for teachers and trainers, including presentations, online scenarios and hands-on labs,
- additional two online courses hosted by the Moodle platform (we switched from EDX to Moodle),
- brand new remote access laboratory nodes: VREL NextGen, including new hardware platforms: STMicroelectronics, Espressif ESP32, Nordic Semiconductors and ATMEL.
Project results
A fully structured, interactive IoT Flexible Curriculum for those who organise the teaching process is also available as a PDF file.
- Modules “Ex” (Engineering, 1–4) are technical; their primary audience is students of technical universities, professionals and technical-oriented hobbyists.
- Modules “Mx” (Master’s, 1–6) focus more on the design of IoT systems and solutions. Their audience consists of advanced students and technicians who focus on the design of IoT systems rather than on their technical implementation.
For Introductory / Bachelors / Engineering level
The Bluebook – coursebook – Introduction to the IoT. Let’s start here: a comprehensive coursebook for you and your students, 2nd edition (2024). Coursebook page and download. If you prefer interactive content over PDF, wiki-style content is also here.
For Master’s, CTOs, and IoT system designers
The Greenbook – coursebook – Advanced IoT Systems. A high-level, conceptual book for those who intend to design IoT ecosystems rather than implement them. Coursebook page and download (English). If you prefer interactive content over PDF, wiki-style content is also here.
Online lab and teaching materials
- We have an online lab that you can use with your students.
- DLP presentations – ready-made PDF presentations for landscape projection in the classroom, to ease the preparation of in-class IoT lectures.
- If you want to compose your own MOOC module using our content, you can download the MOOC Learning Curves for all modules and get links to the related YouTube playlists on the MOOC materials for tutors page.
- For those recording videos and MOOC courses: MOOC Video Recording Best Practices Whitepaper.
