Transportation robot for industrial logistics
BoxBot is an AGV for industrial logistics and product transportation in factories. The prototype was designed by our Industrial Design colleagues; mechanical design and production were done by the Product Development team, and electronics, sensors and software were implemented in our research group. We used our experience from ISEAUTO to design and implement autonomous driving; ROS-based Autoware software modules were used. The robot made its first trial at the food factory Kulinaaria, which produces cookery for Estonian grocery store Selver.

The project focuses on creating highly configurable automated logistics solutions, including human-in-the-loop and innovative functionalities. Intelligent algorithms for easy reconfiguration and planning of multiple agents (humans, robots, mobile platforms) are developed based on existing tools. A decision-making framework is proposed to validate alternative solutions for multi-agent planning. The framework is expected to be tested on automated intralogistics processes, where parts and tools are transferred with mobile robots and AGVs, thus improving the experience of operators on the shop floor and reducing delivery times.
